Ana is new to formal field hockey coaching but brings deep playing experience and nearly twenty years of youth development work to Ascend. A goalie since seventh grade, Ana started for Charlottesville High School for five seasons, on JV as an eighth grader and then varsity from ninth through twelfth grade. Along the way, Ana took part in the USA Field Hockey Futures Olympic Development Pathway (now Nexus) from eighth through tenth grade, played with the Albemarle Dragons Field Hockey Club, and went on to play goalie at the College of Wooster.
Ana’s professional background is in helping young people grow. Currently the Director of Auxiliary and Summer Programs at St. Anne’s-Belfield School, Ana oversees after-school programming, summer camps, the school store, and facility rentals. Ana has served as a lead trainer for national programs and was interviewed for Camping magazine about the role of character development in summer camp programming. This year, Ana began working with the St. Anne’s-Belfield field hockey goalies each week.
Ana is excited to put that experience to work at Ascend, helping players build their skills on the field along with the social and emotional skills that last well beyond it.
Off the field, Ana is a former Professional Ski Instructors of America Level I instructor who taught lessons in Colorado and Utah and volunteered with Wintergreen Adaptive Sports. Ana also enjoys hiking local trails with Cooper, a dog, and going to live music shows.New Paragraph
